Secularism and our Polity

In our political parlance, secularism means many things to many people.  It is often said that secularism is a garment which has been worn by so many people that it has lost its shape.  Historically,  the concept of secularism came to India from European countries where people were revolting against intervention of Church in polity.  They wanted links completely severed between religion and politics.  Ideally, the State should have no allegiance to any particular religion or faith. In our country we have a better concept than  secularism.  Sarvdharm Sambhaav  meaning   EQUAL RESPECT FOR ALL RELIGIONS is Indian version of secularism which expects State to treat all faiths at par.

Sanjay Garg is a Hindu by birth, a Hindu by culture and that explains his firm belief in Sarvdharm Sambhaav.   Whether it is Diwali,  Dash-Lakshan Parv,  Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, Eid or Christmas,  Sanjay Garg and Sanskar Nidhi celebrate these festivals with same zest.

While in Vidhan Sabha,  he has always stood by those who are subjected to injustice or inequal treatment owing to their religion.   One of the reasons Sanjay Garg enjoys immense popularity amongst people of all faiths is his unyielding adherance to secular beliefs.

We would be glad to hear your views about secularism in our country and whether  you consider Sanjay Garg as a truly secular politician.  Do you have any suggestions for him?  Please submit your views.
